Welcome to Camp Lyle McLeod!
Every year during the third week of July, we gather at Camp Lyle McLeod near Hood Canal for an unforgettable experience. We are delighted to welcome campers, aged 7 through high school, to join us. Each year, our camp takes on a unique theme such as 'Under the Sea' or 'Space Odyssey,' ensuring each visit is filled with excitement and adventure. With over 75 years of tradition, once your camper joins us, you'll understand why!
During their stay, campers enjoy a variety of activities including crafts, singing, games, swimming, boating, outdoor cooking, archery, and essential scouting skills. Scroll down to explore all the scheduled activities we offer.
Margret Scout:
Here, campers learn essential wilderness skills. From cooking in a dutch oven to knot tying and signaling for help, they are prepared for outdoor adventures. Qualified instructors lead activities like the biennial lake swim (upon passing the green swim test) for an added challenge.
Archery:
Campers receive expert instruction in the art of archery, emphasizing safety and technique. Points earned throughout the week culminate in awards for top performers, fostering friendly competition among Pioneer and older units.
Swimming:
On hot summer days, there's no better place to cool off than in our lake. Campers have daily swimming opportunities and may even find fun toys to enhance their aquatic adventures.
Boating:
From learning paddle techniques to mastering canoe games like 'Mulberry Bush' and 'Canoe Over Canoe Rescue,' campers gain confidence on the water. Safety is paramount, with life jacket fittings and aquasox recommended for all water activities.
Crafts/Woodcrafts:
Located near the boat dock, our craft lodge offers endless creativity. Campers decorate projects with glitter and paint, each year featuring crafts that align with the camp's theme. In Woodcrafts, campers use tools like hammers and nails to create and personalize their own masterpieces.
Join us at Camp Lyle McLeod for a week of learning, laughter, and lasting memories!
